Description
Ray-no-Luke Extreme Bike Pogies are intended for people with very cold hand, but who still want the joy of riding a bike in the winter.
Originally designed for a family member with Raynaud’s Syndrome, these are a lot like my standard Winter bicycle pogies, but with a extra layer of polyester batting insulation. The result is pogies that are warmer than any others. These are warm, really warm. Because they are pogies, not mittens, they are not constrained to the thickness of insulation that a glove or mitten would be. With this much insulation, these will keep even the coldest hands warmer than they have ever been on a winter bike ride.
I have been making these for 3 years, but have only decided to list them as a product now because I am concerned that someone with average hands might buy them because “warmer is better”. I have colder than average hands, and I cannot use these, my hands will be uncomfortably warm and sweaty. Most people with close to average circulation will be more comfortable in my standard winter pogies. The standard pogies are easier to get your hands into, since less space is taken up by fluffy insulation. These are extreme bike pogies, with an emphasis on extremely cold hands.
But for those with Raynaud’s, poor hand circulation, previous frostbite damage, and other impairments to warm hands, these will keep hands as warm as they can get on a bike in winter. I’d consider them for a trip to Antarctica.
The insulation batting is full length on top and 2/3 length on the bottom to make it a bit easier to get your hands in. As such, they should be installed with the thicker part of the cuff on top.
Includes my own sandwich style bar plug – a 3 piece bar plug that secures the pogie to any standard handlebar. The plug can be left on in summer without the pogies.
Interior fleece colour varies with availability. I generally purchase end-of-roll pieces to reduce manufacturing waste.
These fit on most flat or moderately curved bars (mountain or city style). For road bikes, ‘cross bikes, touring bikes, or other bikes equipped with drop bars, get Dr. Ops, Full Coverage Drop Bar Pogies. They are the most versatile drop bar pogies on the market.
I offer flat rate shipping, $22 CAD to the USA including Alaska, $10 for Canada. it will be added at checkout.
